The DSU (Defender Sentry Unit) is a modular, self-contained sentry system that is integrated with vision based sensors and advanced processing unit which gives the system the capability to automatically detect, track and engage targets within the range of its sensors.
The units can be used as a standalone target replacement or they can be integrated with standard falling targets. The modularity concept makes the units scalable to fit the needs of the range operators and the type of the simulated combat scenario.
The DSU concept has been developed with automation in mind. All primary functionality is easily accessed via a remote terminal unit that is connected to the DSU“s control computer.
The shooting range operator can easily set the detection and tracking parameters, start or stop the engagement or follow in real time the engagement via the sentries video feed. Once the engage command is given the DSU will automatically detect, track and engage the targets that fit the set criteria and are in the sentries engagement envelope.
The control software will use the servo motors to point the paintball marker and fire at the targets until the integrated /external target silhouette has been hit or the command for disengage has been broadcasted to the unit.
The DSU concept is based on common standards and a truly modular design, allowing for minimal maintenance efforts and lowest possible life cycle costs.
A robust, simple design and minimal moving parts mean that only basic field maintenance and standard equipment is required for the first level of support.
The modular design allows a wide array of accessories to be integrated as well as different mounting solutions (floor / ceiling)
The Mark 1 configuration is the minimum configuration of the DSU system.
The Mark 2 configuration is the next configuration of the DSU system.Mark 2 configuration retains all the features of the Mark 1 but it also has Rugged Computing Unit 020 (RCU 020) integrated into design. The RCU 020 comes preloaded with the TRACKER application that is controlling and steering the DSU.
The Mark 3 is a fully out of a box ready for use configuration.
When there is a need to train in a very challenging environment and difficult combat conditions then the standard TRACKER application may be inadequate and could struggle to reliably detect, track and engage the targets.
In these types of scenarios the Mark 3 configuration can be upgraded to Mark 4. The Mk4 retains all the features of the Mk3 configuration but it is equipped with much more powerful computing unit (DSU) and preloaded with TRACKER PRO sentry application that uses state of the art detection and tracking algorithms that can meet the challenges of even the most difficult training range conditions.
There is also upgraded sensor module in new protective housing. The sensor module can be equipped with different types of vision sensors (thermal, optical) and also with a laser range finder and designator according to clients needs.
